A cool RM21,000 Kawasaki Ninja 250R and three elegant Naza bikes are up for grabs for MotoGP fans attending the upcoming 2008 Polini Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Sepang Circuit next weekend.

"On top of that there would also be plenty of other prizes as well including merchandise items from GIVI worth more than RM50,000 ranging from special edition watches, racing helmets, jackets, raincoats and storage boxes as well SOL racing helmets," SIC Sales Manager Ismadi Ishak told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur.

To be offered as lucky draw prizes for ticket purchases, the three Naza bikes are a Naza GTR150 worth RM8,000, a Naza Symphony 125 worth RM5,000 and a Naza Flash, which is also selling at about RM5,000.

"Of course, there still more prizes coming in from our kind sponsors. The draw for these prizes would be made on Race Day on October 19 at the Mall Area at 3.30pm. The gates would be open for ticket holders in other areas to converge in the Mall Area," said Ismadi, who is the Project Manager for the 2008 Polini Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Fans at the Mall Area would also be treated to a stunt show performance by world renowned Humberto Rubeiro from Portugal, entertainment by top comedian Nabil, pocket bike demonstration and a specially-organised fan session with all the MotoGP stars on Saturday, October 18.

Thanking the sponsors and the fans for their support for the race, Ismadi said that SIC was targeting an attendance of 70,000 spectators throughout the three-day event from October 17 to 19. Last year, the event drew a total of 45,000 spectators for the weekend.

"While the lucky draw and all the off-track activities would be bonus for the fans, the biggest draw for the fans is of course, the race itself. Fans would be treated to a world class showcase by the world's best riders on the world's fastest bikes. Catching that live is second to none," he added.

Though the championship battle for the MotoGP crown has already been won by Valentino Rossi, the fight for second overall remained open between 2007 champion Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa. Similarly, the world crown for the 125cc has already been won by Frenchman Mike De Meglio while the 250cc world title is still open between Italian Marco Simoncelli, Spaniard Alvaro Bautista and Mika Kallio of Finland.

The press conference was also attended by SIC's newly-appointed Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Razlan Ahmad Razali, a motorsports enthusiast who owns Pineapple Motorsports and the MSportsbike Racing Team.

Speaking at the press conference, Razlan said that he was looking forward to his new appointment and that his priority would be to give SIC a new image and new branding in line with time as the circuit moves into its second decade of operations.

"SIC had been operating for 10 years now and I believe it's time for the circuit to have a new image and a new branding for itself," he said, adding his other major challenge would be to deliver well the 2009 Formula One Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix in view of the huge success chalked by the Singapore GP.
