GABAN Is Back On Track
MOHD AL-AMIRUL ASHSHAHID MOHD SALEH is back on track to win the 2009 SIC-AAM Malaysian Motocross championship after winning Round 2 at the Sepang Motocross Circuit today.

Al-Amirul or Gaban to many, was not the fastest rider on the track but did enough to win all the races to secure this first overall spot.

"The win is a very important one for me and the team. The competition this season is building up so every weekend is very important as I have set a target of winning the championship this year," said the 24-year-old who with 67 points.

Riding a Honda CRF, Al-Amirul had to hold back Thai rider Suksripaisal the whole day as the latter finally managed to finish second in the podium with 66 points.

He also had to deal with his younger brother Muhd Habibullah Mohd Saleh who grabbed the third podium spot with a total of 60 points.

Al-Amirul who last won the championship in 2006 skipped the 2007 season due to a wrist injury.

He got back on his bike last year in which he finished the season behind eventual winner Larry Blair.

With Blair missing this weekend, Al-Amirul's chances for the top place this year is brighter.

He however could face tough competition from his own brother as Habibullah or Gabit to his peers, is on the same points count as he won the opening round last month.

Meanwhile in the Cubcross class, Chan Yee Wah won the round with a total of 75 points.

Coming in second was Izwan Zakaria with 55 points while Muhd Aswad Buang is third on the standings with 54 points.

In the Junior category, Faizuddin Naim Ishak Muliawan emerged champion scoring a total of 72 points on his Kawasaki.

Fadzil Embok Cheniq finish second with 64 points on a Honda CRF while another Kawasaki rider Mohd Alif Jamal snatch the final podium spot with 63 points.
