SEPANG, JULY 23, 2010: The Sepang International Circuit will once again be roaring with the sound of revving machines as Round 3 of the Drag Battle commences this Saturday night, on July 24.

With cars ranging from the not-so-innocent Kancil to the latest Nissan GTR, the Drag Battle promises a night of spectacular performances from the machines as the drivers push their cars to the limit, all in the aim of being the fastest drag racer at the circuit.

Sepang Drag Battle attracts the top Malaysian drivers and prominent workshop operators as far as Johor Bahru, Kelantan and Perlis as they compete for the title Malaysian Drag King as they pushed their machines to the maximum for a 405-meter sprint along the Sepang Circuit straight.

In Round 2 held on May 8, the champion for Class A was Tan Chun Lin, while Md. Ainul Asri Md. Aini took the lead in Class B. Last year’s overall champion in the Class A category, seasoned drag battle racer Ahmad Firdaus Azman from N1 Racing Team emerged as the Class C champion, clocking at 12.266 seconds.

The cars competed in pairs, each striving to be the first and fastest of them all. The categories were Category A (Open, cars without any limit on engine capacity), Category B (no limit on engine capacity), Class C (cars up to 2000cc) and Class D (compact cars).

In compliance with the regulations, all drivers were equipped with approved crash helmet that must be used during the meet.

To participate, a driver must be a holder of a competition licence for circuit racing issued by the Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM) or Motorsports Automobile of Malaysia (MAM).

Entry fee per round is RM200 per car and competitors can register on event day or by downloading the entry form here.

Entrance for spectators is RM10 for seats at the Main Grandstand and RM50 at the paddock, where fans can have a closer look at the mean machines participating in the event.
