Boy Wong Does It Again
DEFENDING champion Wong Yew Choong recovered from a braking problem to win the Malaysian Super Series Supersixteen Round 1 race at the Sepang International Circuit today.

Coming in second overall was Damian Dielenberg while Moo Wai Leong finished third overall.

Yew Choong or Boy Wong to many, gave the paddock something to talk about after finishing fourth fastest in yesterday’s qualifying session.

“It has been a good weekend despite having problems earlier,” said the 32-year-old.

“In the qualifier, I had bad brake pads thus losing position and time. Nevertheless, the crew work hard to ensure the brakes are in good condition, giving me a much better car to work with,” said Yew Choong.

Yew Choong started competing in the Supersixteen since 2006.

He took the overall title that year and in 2007 and 2008.

Last year, he competed in the Supersaloon and won the championship however will not be competing in the category in this year’s championship due to the lack of sponsors.

“This year I am competing as a privateer so it will be hard to main winning form I have had in previous seasons. Nevertheless, I am willing to do my best and ensure I will still hold the title for one more season,” said Yew Choong.

“This year also the competition looks to be tougher than ever before. The other competitors are not forgiving so I would have to keep the mistakes minimum if I want to make four times in a row,” said Yew Choong.

K. Perajun who started in pole position finished the race in fourth place.
