2008 Asian Touring Car Series Driver Champion, Jack Lemvard, arrived from Thailand early on Tuesday for a test session with 2008 Asian Touring Car 1500Max Challenge Team Champions, Proton Axle Racing held at the Sepang International Circuit.
The 25 year old took to the wheel in the Satria Neo for the first time on a hot and humid day at the Malaysian circuit. “The car is nice to drive and its easy to handle. We had a little bit of oversteer but then we had old tyres on. As for switching from rear wheel to front wheel drive, once you tried both and drive it enough, you just don’t think of it and just drive it.
“I have to thank Alex and Proton for having me here for the test. It’s a one day test so its great and Sepang is always fun to drive”.
When asked how he was involved with the test, Lemvard replied “Alex emailed me and called me a couple of times and convinced me to come down for a test. The car has been in the containers for five months, I think, so it wasn’t ready for a proper test, which means we may have to come back for another test next month”.
Currently there are no decisions made by the team as to who will drive for them for the 2009 season with Team Principal, Alex Yoong confirming that the test was just to touch base with one of the possible drivers that they have available. “We are using this opportunity to test Jack, who we would love to have in the car. He is a Champion and one of the best touring car drivers in the region. Its also a chance for us to get to know him and for him to get to know us”
