Champ Motorsport has recently announced their continued support for the Formula V6 Asia series by confirming the participation of American driver, Kevin Chen for the 2009 season.

Looking back at the last race weekend of 2008 in Shanghai, Chen showed his speed with one pole position and two podium finishes, a great achievement for a driver who was in his first formula race season. Prior to his commitment in Formula V6 Asia, Chen was competing in the United States in a local Mazda Miata race series and first set foot in the FV6A in 2007 for a two race stint in Indonesia with CT Motorsport.
2008 was the first full season for Chen in Formula V6 Asia and he signed up with Champ Motorsport who groomed him to the best of his abilities and even helped him to clinch his first podium in just the third race of the season.
Chen kept on improving throughout the year and bettered his time with each outing, fast gaining confidence and experience by the end of the season. In just one short year, Chen proved his abilities and joined the GP2 Asia series for 2008/09 season and has confirmed to return to the 2009 Formula V6 Asia season.
“The 2008 season was a fruitful one for the team and we are happy to announce that we will continue to support and compete in the Asian Festival Of Speed with the Formula V6 Asia series through Kevin” said Champ Motorsport’s Media Representative.
With the confidence and support of team, Chen is confident of a better result in the upcoming season and to claim more podium finishes in the 2009 Formula V6 Asia season.
The team is also looking to field a second car for the 2009 season and is currently in discussion with a few potential drivers.
